Cloth Diaper How To- Part 1

Hi everyone,
So a while back I was approached by a WAHM ( Work At Home Mom ) to do some video tutorials on some basics of cloth diapering. In return, I received a free pocket diaper from SewIsYourBaby. Check them out at http://www.sewisyourbaby.com !
So, here are Parts 1 & 2 of the series I'll be making. If you have anything you'd like to see, e-mail me or leave a comment!

Pinwheels and Stripes

I've been in a sewing funk recently. My machine has hated sewing through minky fabrics. I make re useable pads ( mama cloth ) and I use a soft, knit fabric called minky against the skin. It stretches a lot during sewing and lately all my projects have been turning out wonky. ANYWAY- today I told myself I would make something new to get me out of the funk, it worked! I made a new dish drainer towel, and a wet bag! We lounged around the house, I did some laundry and in the evening we went to town to get some groceries. While we were in the meat area Aaron saw some beef pinwheels in the case. He never wants to try that stuff, but I guess today was full of spontaneity. We picked up 2 of them for about 9.00$ after our store discount, add to that a bag of rice which was 1.00$, and some mini corn on the cobs, 3.00$ for 12. Our meal was just over 10$, now THAT I can live with.  So now we are winding down, and I'm about to go Pinning! Be sure to follow me on Pinterest to see all the gardening and style ideas I find.

Check back later this week as well, I'll have a cloth diaper video review, along with a giveaway!

Snap, Snap, Snapping

Today Amelia and i woke up early to take the Mustang to be detailed. We dropped it off at the shop, and my good friend Hurley picked us up. We went over to her house to spend the day and let the girls play together. Hurley owns a business making cloth diapers, she had several orders to complete so we sat at the table talking, drinking tea, and I snapped some pictures. Arctic Auto Detailing in Fairbanks did an AMAZING job on both Aaron and I's cars. They look brand spanking new! I didn't take before and after but trust me, they are worth visiting!

Nothing much..

I finished my Color Theory class on the 22nd, just waiting for the final grade to be posted. I was shooting for an A so I hope I make it! Not a lot has happened the past week. Aaron is still in school, he has a few more days of class, then he can take his state test and get his Electricians License. We pulled money from his retirement so we could pay off debt, and keep our heads afloat until he can go back to work. We are now 100% Debt free aside from vehicle and student loans. =) Mega Happy Dance! We will be homeowners soooo soon! The dream is getting closer to reality. I am filling my boards on Pinterest with gardening ideas!  Ill post links to my boards later this week.
Im taking my mustang in to be detailed tomorrow, I haven't driven since October, so Im nervous! Then I'll be spending the day with my good friend Hurley and her daughter, Ana. Perhaps we will get some crafty time in. I need to make a wet bag and some more cloth wipes!

Here are some pictures from the past week. I got a new camera and I've been having fun testing it out!

Fun Winter Weekend

Hi!
Not a lot went on this weekend, we spent Saturday relaxing around the house. Sunday we ventured out to Aaron's moms house which is just a few miles away for some homemade waffles with some Wild Alaskan Blueberry sauce from berries she picked herself! It was delicious! I am so excited to go berry picking this fall. Hopefully she will share her location with us, hehe.  Amelia played and played with her Grandma and Papa, she had a lot of fun getting out of the house. She even got to go outside and play in the snow! Paula made a roast with carrots, and potato dumplings for dinner, she really is a great cook! We came home just in time for me to finish my last minute assignment that ended Week 4 of 6 in my Color Theory class. After that, it was ZOMBIE time! The second half of Season 2 of The Walking Dead came on AMC. Squeeee. Aaron and I love zombies, and this show is really detailed.
Now it's Monday, and I have lots to do! Reading chapters for class, thinking of what i will do for my final project, cutting more fabric for a Mama Cloth order, and of course cleaning the house as that is a never ending job!

I'll be back to post pictures of Amelia outside in the snow once Aaron is home with his phone. ( i forgot the camera at home. )

Also- HUGE Shoutout to Amanda Janee' Photography & Design
for putting together my page design. ( Which is still a work in progress but I absolutely love it! )

School, etc.

So, as many of you probably don't know, I'm currently attending an online college for my Bachelors degree in Web Design and Interactive Media. I guess it's rather obvious that I chose this path before making the decision to live off grid and limit our technology usage. Oops. I think moving forward with the 'homesteading' and sustainable living will be great, and having a degree that brings jobs which I can do from home has a lot of potential. Anyway, I'm taking a course on Color Theory at the moment and I am really enjoying it. I'll post some examples of things I've been doing, they are simple as I really lack artistic talent!

Oh! I forgot to mention, yesterday it was 37 above here in North Pole! I opened the front door for a while to let in some fresh air, Amelia was so pleased! I couldn't get her away from the door for anything.
Thats all I have for now!

Hello World

As I make the transition from my shop blog, to a more personal day to day type of thing I'd like to make an outline of what's to come.
• Homesteading Info.
- My family and I are extremely inspired to start living a sustainable lifestyle.

• Natural Parenting, and Natural Birth.
- I feel strongly about being in tune with your children and practicing attachment parenting, as well as a holistic approach to healthcare.

• Breastfeeding.
- I am a big supporter of long term breastfeeding and women's right to do so.

• Building and buying our first home.
- I hope to document our home building process as much as possible. We are aiming to live completely "off the grid", and use sustainable energy.

• Gardening and small scale farming.
- I will be diving into the unknown on this. But I hope to share tips and tricks along the way. Chickens, rabbits, etc.

•General day to say life in Alaska, where it can be -50 one day and 30 above the next!

•Product Reviews and Giveaways!
- I will be reviewing products here on the blog, and offer my readers a chance to win!

Please check back often, this is new and I am aiming to post several times a week!
